(FOTDP) were honoured to collaborate with Pee Wee Ellis for a few shows after ‘Inamorata’, we played on each other's music and for a legend to sit in with us was wild!  Pee Wee & I remained in contact with each other over the next few years, we had a great time together and we always planned on doing more.  I wrote ‘The Pieces that Remain’ for Pee Wee to play on, and we had made arrangements for this to happen coming out of lockdown, but he sadly passed before we could get together again.  Pee Wee’s wife Charlotte & his agent Ina came up with the great idea to invite his J.B’s Horns Brother (& obviously Funk legend) Fred Wesley to play on the track for Pee Wee.  What a dream! Fred was instantly on board and as soon as he was, I was on a pilgrimage to Montgomery, Alabama to be their for the session.

It’s rare in life you get a ‘full circle’ moment but this was an exception.  From being invited up to play with the J.B’s on ‘The Chicken’ (that Pee Wee wrote) a million years ago, to collaborating with Pee Wee Ellis and writing a song for him to play, that ultimately Fred Wesley plays on, really was serendipitous."
